Things You Need to Know

 Your case is confidential, and our duty of loyalty and confidentiality is owed solely to you, our client. As a general policy, LC Legal Services does not discuss the substance of a client's case with family members, spouses, significant others, friends, or any other third party, even if the client requests that we do so or signs a waiver of attorney-client privilege.

This policy helps protect your confidential information, prevents misunderstandings, and ensures that all legal advice is communicated directly to the client.

Our office may communicate with third parties regarding administrative matters only, such as confirming court dates, hearing times, appointment scheduling, or other non-confidential information. We will not discuss legal strategy, evidence, plea offers, settlement negotiations, case updates, or provide legal advice to anyone other than our client.

There may be occasions when Attorney Lee-Constant contacts a family member or other third party to obtain information, documents, or other assistance necessary to effectively represent a client. These communications are initiated solely for the purpose of gathering information needed for the representation and should not be interpreted as an invitation to discuss the client's case or request legal updates. Any information shared by the Firm in these situations will be limited to what is reasonably necessary to accomplish that purpose.

For clients who are incarcerated, family members and loved ones are welcome to contact our office to request that Attorney Lee-Constant visit the client or to relay non-confidential messages. Likewise, Attorney Lee-Constant may relay messages from an incarcerated client to a designated family member when appropriate. However, these communications do not include discussions regarding the facts of the case, legal advice, defense strategy, plea negotiations, or other confidential attorney-client communications.

If family members or friends contact our office requesting updates about a client's case, our staff will politely advise them that we are unable to discuss confidential client matters. Questions regarding the representation should be directed to the client.

The Firm reserves the right to communicate directly and exclusively with the client regarding all substantive legal matters.

 The Firm strongly encourages clients to exercise caution when using social media and other forms of electronic communication while their legal matter is pending. Information shared online can have a significant impact on your case and may be used as evidence in court.

This includes, but is not limited to, posts, comments, photographs, videos, stories, live streams, direct messages, text messages, emails, and communications made through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, WhatsApp, Messenger, and similar applications.

While your case is pending, you should:

• Do not post about your case, your arrest, your lawsuit, your divorce, your children, the opposing party, witnesses, judges, prosecutors, opposing counsel, or your attorney. 
• Do not discuss your legal matter with others through social media, text messages, or online messaging applications. 
• Do not contact opposing parties, alleged victims, witnesses, or represented individuals through social media or other electronic means unless specifically instructed to do so by Attorney Lee-Constant. 
• Ask family members and friends not to post about your case, tag you in posts related to your legal matter, or discuss your case online. 
• Remember that even posts unrelated to your case may be taken out of context and used against you. 

If you are unsure whether something is appropriate to post, do not post it until you have discussed it with Attorney Lee-Constant.

Do not delete, modify, or hide existing social media posts, photographs, videos, text messages, emails, or other electronically stored information after your legal matter has begun or if you reasonably anticipate litigation. Deleting or altering evidence—even with good intentions—may have serious legal consequences, including court sanctions or adverse inferences. If you have concerns about existing content, contact our office before taking any action.

Please remember that text messages, emails, direct messages, screenshots, location data, photographs, videos, internet searches, and other electronic communications may be discoverable during litigation and introduced as evidence in court. Assume that anything you write, send, or post could eventually be read by a judge, jury, opposing counsel, law enforcement, or the opposing party.

The safest course of action is to avoid discussing your legal matter online or electronically with anyone other than your attorney. If you have questions, concerns, or information related to your case, communicate directly with our office rather than through social media or text messages.

Remember: If you would not want to see it displayed on a courtroom screen, do not post it, send it, or assume it will remain private.

We never want you to feel like you are bothering us. If you have questions or concerns about your case, please contact our office. 

 Attorney Lee-Constant is committed to keeping clients informed about significant developments in their legal matters. You can expect to be contacted whenever there is meaningful activity in your case, including court rulings, settlement offers, plea negotiations, discovery received, hearing dates, requests for additional information, or decisions requiring your input.

Please understand that many legal matters involve periods of waiting. Courts, opposing counsel, government agencies, insurance companies, and other third parties often control the pace of a case. During these periods, there may be little or no activity to report. A lack of communication does not mean your case has been forgotten or that work is not being performed. Often, progress is being made behind the scenes through legal research, document review, negotiations, drafting pleadings, preparing for hearings, or simply waiting for action from another party.

Because Attorney Lee-Constant regularly appears in court, attends hearings, conducts legal research, prepares cases, and meets with other clients, she is not always immediately available to answer unscheduled telephone calls or respond to emails the same day. Court appearances and filing deadlines frequently require uninterrupted attention and may affect response times.

If you have a question or concern about your case, we encourage you to contact our office. Routine questions and requests for legal advice are best handled through a scheduled Zoom or telephone conference so that Attorney Lee-Constant can review your file beforehand, take notes during your meeting, and provide thoughtful, informed guidance.

If there is a significant development in your case, you will hear from us. Likewise, if you have new information, receive court documents, experience a change in circumstances, or simply have questions, we encourage you to contact our office rather than waiting for the next scheduled update.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to provide every client with diligent representation and individualized attention. Our goal is not simply to respond quickly, but to respond thoughtfully and effectively.
